Abstract Farmers who generate agricultural products are entitled to form organizations and register as Farmer Producer Organizations under the Indian Companies Act of 1956. Enhancing farmers' income, competitiveness, capacity building, and advantage in new market opportunities are the objectives. An investigation of the role of farmer-producer groups in empowering farmers was conducted via a case study in the Karnal District of Haryana. Examining FPC's management and governance structure and assessing the impact the organization has on its members were the objectives of the case study. Group discussions and in-person interviews were utilized to gather data and information regarding FPC. On 25 March 2013, the Mishti Farmer Producer Organization was established to collect, process, and market milk and milk products. In eight Karnal villages, it collected raw milk from both members and non-member farmers at a higher price than other value chain players. The results of the survey show that farmers who provide milk to FPC get higher prices than other farmers, ranging from 8 to 10 rupees per liter. Furthermore, it provides a bonus to member farmers who buy shares in the company, boosting their dairy farming income by 25–30%. Additionally, FPC plays a major role in enhancing farmers' backward and forward connections and helping them enhance their skills in a variety of agricultural fields. Members of FPC are happy with the organization's services and performance in their local areas.
